In my DFG-funded project “Polarization through and in referendums:
mapping polarization within and beyond the party system.” (PolRef),
there is a vacancy for a
Researcher (m/f/x) (65%, pay group 13 TV-L)
for the duration of 3 years (+ 1 additional year after successful
interim evaluation of the project) to be filled at the earliest
opportunity (ideally 1 October 2022).
I would be very grateful if you could refer suitable applicants to the
advertisement. The deadline for applications is 21/07/2022. I am looking
for a person with an interest in empirical-quantitative research in
comparative politics or political sociology.
Work responsibilities include:
- Contributing to theoretical conceptualization and empirical analysis
in work package 1 "Mapping polarization through and in referendums
cross-nationally".
- Data collection and cleaning, merging and analysis of existing data
sets on referendums and political polarization
- Participation in the supervision of student assistants
- Publication of research results and their presentation at national
and international meetings and conferences
- Participation in the reporting and administration of the project
I expect the successful applicant (m/f/d) to pursue a PhD within the
project.
Applicant's profile:
- A university degree in the field of political or social sciences or
in a comparable discipline
- An interest in research in comparative politics and political sociology
- An interest in the topics of direct democracy or polarization
- Solid knowledge of quantitative methods and statistical software
(preferably R, alternatively Stata, SPSS or others)
- Very good knowledge of English, knowledge of German would be an
advantage
- A self-reliant way of working and willingness to take responsibility
within a team
