Dear colleagues,

I am writing to invite paper submissions to the ECPR General Conference
2026 Section “Environmental Politics, Mobilisation and Conflict: Emotions
and Inequality in the Climate Transition”
(Section S11), which I have the
pleasure to co-chair. The conference will take place at the Jagiellonian
University in Kraków, 8–11 September 2026.
Full details are available here:
https://ecpr.eu/Events/Event/SectionDetails/1668

This section examines how climate change has become an increasingly central
arena of political contestation. We aim to gather research on climate
activism, climate scepticism, far-right environmental narratives, and
counter-mobilisations, with particular attention to the emotional,
identity-based, and socio-economic dimensions shaping contemporary
conflicts around environmental issues. We especially welcome papers
addressing:

far-right, populist, and conspiratorial narratives around climate change
and ecological transitions;

digital mobilisation, online misinformation, and climate-related
conspiracy theories;

collective action related to climate justice, energy transition,
agriculture, and peripheral or disadvantaged communities;

the role of emotions, inequality and perceptions of injustice in
environmental politics and democratic participation.

We welcome empirical, theoretical, and methodological contributions from a
broad range of approaches, including comparative politics, political
sociology, communication studies, qualitative and ethnographic research,
and computational methods.

If you are considering submitting a paper to this section, please feel
free to reach out to me.

I would be happy to discuss your idea, help you assess the fit of your
proposal, or answer any questions.

Please feel free to circulate this call among colleagues, PhD candidates,
and networks that may be interested

With best regards,
