Postdoc in Comparative Politics/Public Opinion (100%) at the University of Greifswald
The International Research Training Group Baltic Peripeties (Universities of Greifswald, Tartu & NTNU Trondheim) invites applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Researcher position, starting 1 April 2026.
We are seeking a political scientist who will independently develop and conduct an empirical research project (quantitative or mixed methods) on current political developments in the Baltic Sea Region. Possible themes include: parties, parliaments, governments, elections, voters, representation, political attitudes, public opinion, or European integration. The project may focus on the whole region or selected countries.
The postdoc will be part of an interdisciplinary international network, with opportunities and funding for research stays in Tartu and/or Trondheim, conference travel, and regular scholarly exchange. Exchange and collaboration between the successful applicant and Piret Ehin (University of Tartu), Corinna Kroeber (University of Greifswald), and/or Jochen Müller (University of Greifswald), who represent Political Science in the Supervisory Board of the International Research Training Group, is encouraged.
Main Requirements: PhD in Political Science (completed by start date), strong methodological skills, initial publications and experience in international academic environments are also desirable
Income: The position is remunerated according to TV-L E13 (German public-sector pay scale for academic staff), corresponding to a gross monthly salary of approximately €4,600–€6,500 for full-time employment, depending on prior experience, and covering full social security and benefits.
