JOB: Lecturer in International Political Economy - University College London (UCL EISPS)
Salary: £54,931–£64,644
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (Hybrid working)
Closing Date: 19 January 2026
The Department of European & International Social & Political Studies (EISPS) at University College London invites applications for a Lecturer in International Political Economy. EISPS is a multidisciplinary department offering selective undergraduate degrees that combine politics, history, law, philosophy, and advanced language training. The successful candidate will join a small, research-active team committed to excellent teaching and the development of a strong research culture.
About the Role:
The postholder will teach across our undergraduate programmes, including an undergraduate social science methods class, and will convene 3–4 modules per year. Responsibilities include teaching, research, dissertation supervision, pastoral tutoring, and departmental citizenship. We welcome applicants working in any area of international political economy or closely related fields. Candidates with regional or area specialisations are encouraged, and we particularly welcome work engaging climate change, technology, and equality, in alignment with UCL’s Grand Challenges. The postholder will also contribute to research groups, staff–student collaboration, and partnerships across UCL and with external institutions.
About You:
Applicants must hold a PhD in international political economy, international relations, development studies, comparative politics, or a closely related discipline by the start date. Evidence of high-quality research, teaching experience, and engagement with policy or practice are highly advantageous. Experience with grant activity is welcome. The role includes pastoral responsibilities, and the successful candidate will support students in module choices and academic progression.
What We Offer:
UCL provides a comprehensive benefits package, including 41 days of leave (27 annual, 8 bank holidays, 6 closure days), pension (CARE), cycle-to-work scheme, immigration loan, relocation support for eligible posts, on-site nursery and gym, enhanced parental leave, season ticket loan, and staff wellbeing services.
EDI Statement:
UCL is strongly committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from candidates underrepresented in its workforce, including Black, Asian and ethnic minority scholars; disabled candidates; LGBTQI+ candidates; and (for senior roles) women.
