We are organising a virtual workshop at the 2024 ECPR Joint Sessions (25-28
March) on
'Good citizenship norms: Recurrence of civic duties, expansion of citizen
behaviours or backsliding in democratic values'

opportunity to get feedback on your work that often leads to journal
submission (with us as part of our SI and/or without it also).

Flexible participation: Join online from 25-28 March 2024 *with a
potential in-person option (depending on participants’ preference, please
feel free to let us know).

Financial support: There are funding opportunities organised by
ECPR. We are working on securing further funding to assist the contributors
to our workshop specifically. (Further details will be communicated soon.)
Contribution Guidelines:

Deadline of max 500 words abstract: 23 November 2023

Paper Title: max 20 words.

Submission: via MyECPR page * please note, it is open to all and
free to create a profile if you do not have one yet.

Keywords: 3–8 keywords from ECPR’s predetermined list to categorise
papers.

Co-author’s Details: Email address as registered in My ECPR (if
applicable., please ensure they are registered too).
Main Themes:
Our research seeks to address citizenship norms with regards to civic
duties, citizen behaviour and democratic backsliding. While the below list
of themes are not exhaustive, they encapsulate our primary focus:
Indicative themes
1: Theoretical, conceptual and empirical perspectives on “good citizenship”
2: Interdisciplinary assessments on norms of (good) citizenship
3: Implications of citizenship norms for political behaviour and attitudes
4: Regional, national, temporal assessments of citizenship norms, esp.
outside advanced democracies
5: The role of social, technological and educational processes in the
development of norms
6: Psychological processes involving attitudes, emotions, identities
related to citizenship norms
7: Implications of citizenship norms for civic education
8: Implications of citizenship norms for democracy
