I am looking for a data scientist to work with myself and Slava Jankin at the University of Birmingham as part of the Wellcome Trust-funded Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Changehttps://lancetcountdown.org/ project, contributing to our understanding of how societies engage with and respond to climate-health challenges.
The postdoctoral position is for 48 months on a full-time basis. The research fellow would be based at The Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Governmenthttps://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/centres-institutes/centre-for-artificial-intelligence-in-government (CAIG) at the University of Birmingham, and would be affiliated with the Birmingham Institute for Sustainability and Climate Actionhttps://www.birmingham.ac.uk/research/bisca/home-page (BISCA).
The main duties will be to:
- Lead the development and refinement of global indicators for tracking public and political engagement with climate change and health
- Manage and analyse complex datasets for the Lancet Countdown's online indicator platform
- Provide methodological guidance to regional teams on data collection and analysis
- Contribute to academic publications and funding applications
- Support the review and development of WG5's indicator framework
We are looking for someone with a strong data science/computational social science background (PhD in political science, computational social science, public/global health, or related discipline). Experience working on issues related to climate change and/or health would be desirable.
