MZES Visiting Fellowship

The Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES)https://www.mzes.uni-mannheim.de/d7/en is an interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Mannheim, dedicated to research on European societies in international perspective. It is the largest university-based research institute for the social sciences in Germany.

The Centre regularly invites applications particularly from early career researchers for MZES Visiting Fellowships. The aim of this fellowship is to encourage academic exchange and networking within the MZES. We welcome and encourage to apply and to come to Mannheim to share their ideas with us. We are explicitly open to research profiles within social science that broaden the scope of research currently carried out at the MZES.

Visiting Fellows are invited to spend 2-4 weeks at the MZES, preferably during term time, which runs from mid-February through to end of May. In this round applications are open for postdoctoral researchers. This means, you should have defended your thesis by the time you intend to start the Visiting Fellowship.

What we offer:

  • A lively academic environment with more than 80 scientists working in over 50 research projects along with a series of colloquia, workshops and informal opportunities for scientific exchange
  • Extensive support from the institute’s infrastructure (such as the Data and Methods Unit or the dedicated library and IT)
  • Reimbursement of the costs for travel to and from the host institution as well as for accommodation according to the expenses incurred (in line with the travel expenses law of the respective federal state)
  • A daily allowance and a workplace for the duration of the stay

Please send your brief application (describing your motivation for the fellowship as well as the preferred time of the stay and attaching an academic CV) by e-mail to mzes-direktorat@uni-mannheim.demailto:mzes-direktorat@uni-mannheim.de. Application deadline is 3 December 2023. For further questions, please contact us under the same address.
