Position: Multiple full-time open-rank (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) faculty positions in Turkish Politics.

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration at Bilkent University invites applications for open-rank faculty positions (preferably Asst.  prof.) in the area of Turkish Politics. The anticipated start date for the appointment is September 2025. Bilkent University is located in Ankara, Turkey’s capital, and is an English-medium institution (all instruction is in English).

Position Description

In this role, the successful candidate(s) will be expected to conduct high-quality research and maintain an active research agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications. They will also offer excellent teaching and student mentorship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. This includes teaching core and elective courses in their field and supervising graduate theses. Faculty are further expected to engage in service contributions to the department and university (such as curriculum development, committee work, and student advising) as part of their academic duties.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Political Science or a related discipline by the time of appointment .
Expertise in Turkish Politics: A research focus on issues related to Turkish politics (any thematic or theoretical specialization within this broad area).
Active Research Record: Demonstrated potential for or evidence of an active research agenda and a strong record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed outlets .
Teaching Ability: Ability to teach effectively in English at the university level (Bilkent’s medium of instruction is English) , with a commitment to quality teaching and mentorship of students.

Preferred Qualifications:

Methodological Strengths: Candidates whose research employs robust methods utilizing qualitative or quantitative methods.
Excellence in Teaching: Prior teaching experience with positive evaluations, and an ability to develop and teach courses across different levels (undergraduate, MA, and Ph.D.).
