Dear EPSS community,
As 2025 draws to a close, we look back on what has been an extraordinary
year for EPSS.
In June 2025, we took the decision to establish a new European political
science society—EPSS https://epssnet.org/—grounded in the principles of
transparency, accountability, and reinvestment in the academic community.
This step followed several unsuccessful attempts to reform
https://epssnet.org/epsa-reform-working-group/ the governance and
financial structure of EPSA. As a not-for-profit and member-led political
science association, EPSS is committed to fostering a vibrant scholarly
network, promoting scientifically rigorous political science, and hosting
an annual conference.
From the very beginning, EPSS has been met with remarkable enthusiasm and
support from the community. After just six months, EPSS counts 53 lifetime
members and over 300 regular members. Interest in the inaugural EPSS
conference in Belfast next June has been overwhelming, with over 2,500
submissions. The EPSS listserv epss-info-join@list.epssnet.org is also
growing rapidly and has become a valuable channel for sharing political
science-related information.
Launching EPSS would not have been possible without the extraordinary
commitment, energy, and goodwill shown by so many colleagues. Its success
story carries a hopeful message in these challenging times: that it is
indeed possible to bring people together who are willing to invest their
time, ideas, and effort to cooperate and create something meaningful that
provides public goods for the benefit of all.
In this spirit, we sincerely thank you for helping to make EPSS a success
this year and wish you happy holidays and all the best for the year ahead.
Warm wishes,
your EPSS Council
