Dear list members,
I advertise a full-time position for a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at my chair at the University of Bamberg to start on October 1, 2022. The position is for three years initially and may be renewed for up to three more years. The responsibilities include joint and independent research, teaching (5 classes per academic year) in the areas of comparative politics and applied quantitative methods, and some administrative duties. Applicants should be able to teach in German by their second year at the latest. This is an open call, i.e. there are no pre-selected candidates.
Suitable candidates have completed or almost completed a PhD in political science, preferably in the area of comparative politics, with an empirical-analytical focus. They have a visible record of international publications and conference presentations, advanced knowledge in quantitative research methods and in the area of political institutions and political behavior (e.g. legislative and executive politics; party politics, party competition and opposition; institutional design; political representation). I also expect some teaching experience at the university level, ability to work independently and in teams, and very good English skills. Knowledge on modern methods of causal inference and/or Computational Social Science and first experience in acquiring external funding are assets.
We offer a vibrant and internationally oriented research environment with a dynamic and cooperative team. The Bamberg Institute of Political Science and the Faculty of Social Sciences, Economics, and Business Administration offer many opportunities for collaboration in research and teaching. Postdoctoral researchers can join the Bamberg Graduate School of Social Sciences (BAGSS) and profit from its courses, workshops, mentoring opportunities, and other means of support.
