IV Yale-UB Historical Political Economy Workshop

Faculty from Yale University and the University of Barcelona are organizing the fourth edition of the Yale-UB Historical Political Economy Workshop.
The workshop brings together senior and junior faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and advanced PhD students working in Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Economy, and Economic History with an emphasis on HPE.
The organizers welcome papers across a broad range of topics and methodologies, including studies examining historical political events and research exploring the enduring legacies of historical events in the present day.
This two-day workshop will take place at the University of Barcelona on June 29–30, 2026, featuring 10 presentations.
The Workshop Keynote this year will be Lisa Blaydes (Stanford University).
We invite researchers in Historical Political Economy to submit proposals using this form by January 21, 2026 (a Gmail login is required). If you cannot use the form, send the paper to: yaleubhpe.workshop@gmail.commailto:yaleubhpe.workshop@gmail.com. Proposals that include a full draft will be given closer consideration.
Decisions will be communicated via email by January 30, 2026. Accommodation and meals will be provided by the organizers, with limited financial assistance available to cover travel expenses.
