Dear Colleagues,

We hope this email finds you well! We are the Organisers of the Authoritarian Political Systems Group (APSG)https://apsg.work/, a biweekly online seminar series on the politics of authoritarian regimes.

We are currently soliciting papers and presenters for our second season of seminars to be held between September and December later this year. We are inviting any early-career scholars working on in Comparative Politics, International Relations, Political Theory, and related fields who study authoritarian political regimes regardless of their methodological approaches (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, formal modeling, etc.).

Please complete this formhttps://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd1g1QK-yOHL8eWlZLjdzqASH0V7UsBhoNxGXipasVo1iX59g/viewform to submit your application including: title, abstract, field, and scholars you would like to invite to discuss your work. The deadline for submission is 1 July 2022. Please see the attached Call for Papers for more information.

Meanwhile, we draw our first season to an end on 14 June with a presentation by Handi Li (PhD Candidate, Emory University) entitled “Transparency for Authoritarian Stability: Open Government Information and Contention with Institutions in China”. Edmund Malesky (Duke University) and Dimitar Gueorguiev (Syracuse University) will discuss. If you are interested in attending the seminar, please sign up to our mailing list herehttps://tinyletter.com/APSG_workshop to receive the Zoom link.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at this or any of our future seminars!

Best,
Authoritarian Political Systems Group (APSG)https://apsg.work/
