The Department of Political Science at the Institute of Social Sciences
in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites applications for a
W2 professorship in the field of European Integration
to start at the earliest possible date. We are seeking an outstanding
scholar whose research and teaching engage critically with the politics
of European integration in its broadest sense.
We welcome applications from candidates with a strong political science
profile who combine theoretical and empirical approaches to the study of
the European Union--its institutions, policymaking processes, and
political dynamics. The successful candidate will contribute to
advancing research and teaching on topics such as democracy, the rule of
law, populism, geopolitics, migration, external economic policy, or
climate governance in the context of the European Union.
The position includes teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate
levels (including teacher training programs), as well as active
involvement in interdisciplinary programs offered by the Institute. We
particularly value candidates who bring a strong commitment to
methodological rigor and who contribute to the development of
theoretical and methodological training within the discipline.
Qualifications:
* PhD /doctorate in Political Science or a closely related field;
* Further qualification as a researcher in accordance with §61(2) of
the Higher Education Act of the State of Schleswig-Holstein (second
book, publications, or similar);
* A strong publication record with international visibility, including
peer-reviewed work on European integration;
* Ongoing research in at least one of the thematic areas listed above;
* A research agenda with clear theoretical and empirical grounding;
* Experience securing external research funding;
* Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a record of positive student
evaluations.
Preferred qualifications include:
* Engagement with interdisciplinary research clusters, ideally
aligning with the university's strategic focus on "Society, Environment,
and Culture in Transition (SECC)";
* International academic networks and involvement in knowledge
transfer initiatives;
* Experience in academic service and governance.
