Dear colleagues,

We invite submissions for a pre-EPSA workshop in Cologne on 3 July 2024 on "Multi-data perspectives on democracy".

This workshop aims to bring together scholars working on all issues of democracy, democratic stability, and democratic transitions, and who approach these topics linking multiple types of data (such as surveys, administrative data, geospatial data, digital traces, etc.). We are interested in both comparative and case studies, in both current and historical accounts, as well as in papers on the methodological considerations involved when linking different types of data.

Participation at the EPSA conference is not required to participate in our workshop. We invite scholars of all career levels. There is funding available to cover catering and some travel grants for junior scholars.

The workshop is co-hosted by the Cologne Center for Comparative Politics (affiliated with the Cluster of Excellence: ECONtribute) and GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. It will take place at GESIS, Unter Sachsenhausen 6-8, 50667 Cologne, Germany. We gratefully acknowledge funding from the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) under Germany’s Excellence Strategy – EXC 2126/1-390838866.

Please submit your abstract here: https://forms.gle/MPUghmfKqysnJcR29

Sincerely,

Chitralekha Basu (Cologne), Michael Bechtel (Cologne), Alexia Katsanidou (GESIS), and Sebastian Ziaja (GESIS)
