Consequences of Identity Politics Workshop - June 1st & 2nd 2023 We invite paper submissions to a two-day workshop on Consequences of Identity Politics which aims to bring together scholars and allow for a deep discussion of papers with insights on the changing consequences of diverse social and political identities including traditional partisanship, issue-based identities (e.g., Remainer, Anti-Vaxxer, NIMBYer, etc.); or social identities (e.g., sexuality, ethnicity, etc.). We are particularly interested in papers that rely on innovative methods, experimental research designs (including field experiments), and which seek to explore how identities and group-based affect can influence: i) political projection  ii) out-group stereotyping    iii) policy support iv) political trust      v) political mobilization      vi) electoral behaviour. The workshop will take place in person at the University of Southampton where we plan to have an in-depth and rich discussion of up to twelve papers, engage in dynamic social interactions, and where we will welcome Prof Markus Wagner (Vienna) who will present a keynote lecture on work from their ERC-funded project: “Partisan prejudice: Origins, Consequences and Remedies in European Multiparty Democracies”. Registration is free and meals will be provided throughout the duration of the workshop thanks to funding from the British Academy and an ECR career development award from the University of Southampton. Paper abstracts should be submitted to s.turnbull-dugarte@soton.ac.uk by March 3rd.
