The Department of Methodology at LSE is a leading centre for research and education in social science research methods. The Department has a thriving research culture, with its members advancing research in core social science disciplines as well as in methodological innovation and development. It leads the provision of research methods education to students across the range of disciplines at LSE. The Department is recruiting an Associate Professor in Computational Social Science and an Assistant Professor in Quantitative Research Methods.

Based in Department of Methodology, the post holder will contribute to the intellectual life of the School through conducting and publishing outstanding quality research, engaging in high quality teaching as instructed by the Head of Department, and participating in the School and wider Department activities. The post holder will teach both introductory and advanced courses in computational social science research methodology to multi-disciplinary groups of postgraduate and undergraduate students of social sciences. They will publish research that makes outstanding contributions to substantive research and methodological development in the social sciences and take a leading role in the development of teaching and research in data science in the Department.

Candidates should hold a PhD and have extensive expertise in the application of computational methods in the social sciences. Candidates should be internationally recognized with a track record of outstanding publications and teaching computational methods at undergraduate or postgraduate level. Candidates should also demonstrate leadership experience and be prepared to play an active role in the management and leadership of the Department. Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to engage in collaborative research with other members of the Department, and with related research centres and disciplines in the School.

They should have the ability to teach a range of quantitative research methods to multi-disciplinary groups of students.
