Dear Colleagues,

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow position at the University of Birmingham, to join the Wellcome Trust-funded "Lancet Countdown: Tracking Progress on Health and Climate Change" collaboration.

This full-time, 3.5-year position is for a Research Fellow in Computational Social Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and leading innovative computational social science research at the intersection of politics, health, and climate change. Key responsibilities include spearheading computational research projects, applying advanced data science and machine learning techniques to diverse datasets, providing technical leadership to regional centres, and contributing to the development of global indicators for the Lancet Countdown's Working Group on Public and Political Engagement (WG5).

This post offers an opportunity for a researcher with strong computational/data science skills to apply their expertise to pressing global challenges, working in partnership with The Lancet and the World Health Organization.

Informal enquiries can be directed to Professor Niheer Dasandi (n.dasandi@bham.ac.ukmailto:n.dasandi@bham.ac.uk).

We encourage applications from individuals with a PhD (or near completion) in a social science discipline with a strong computational/data science specialisation, OR a PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science) with significant research application in social/political science. Demonstrable proficiency in Python or R is essential.

Best wishes,
Slava
