Apologies for cross-posting.

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to announce a Call for Papers for our workshop at the ECPR Joint Sessions, titled “From Code to Conversation: What LLMs Mean for Political Science.” The workshop will take place at the University of Innsbruck, 7–10 April 2026.

The ECPR Joint Sessions of Workshops offers a focused environment for political scientists to develop and refine their research. In this closed-group format, 15–20 participants present and discuss papers in depth, fostering intensive collaboration and constructive peer feedback.

Our workshop investigates how large language models (LLMs) challenge established ways of producing knowledge in political science. We seek papers addressing both the practical use of LLMs in research and their broader implications for replicability, theory-building, and the political economy of AI (see the ECPR websitehttps://ecpr.eu/Events/Event/WorkshopDetails/16749 for full details). Please submit your paper proposals via the ECPR submission portalhttps://ecpr.eu/Events/Event/Content?ID=1555&EventID=342#Paper by December 10, 2025.

Please note that the ECPR offers an Event Participation Grant for PhD students and early-career scholars, which includes a full fee waiver and up to £500 for travel and accommodation (see herehttps://ecpr.eu/Events/Event/Content?ID=1555&EventID=342#Registration). We are not involved in the selection process, and receiving this grant is unfortunately not guaranteed.

Please feel free to forward this message to interested colleagues, and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.

We look forward to your submissions.

Yours sincerely,
Lisa and Markus
