Dear colleagues,

It is with pleasure to inform you that our Varieties of Indoctrination (V-Indoc) dataset has now been released. After many years in the making, we are proud to finally publish the V-Indoc dataset, which introduces 27 original indicators and 13 indices that measure the politicization of education and the media. The data draws on the information provided by 760 country experts (surveyed in collaboration with the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute) and offers unrivaled coverage of 160 countries from 1945-2021. The V-Indoc dataset aims to facilitate richer and more expansive empirical examinations of the causes and consequences of indoctrination around the world and over time.

The dataset can be accessed via the V-Indoc website at https://www.gla.ac.uk/research/az/democracyresearch/dataandmethods/v-indocdataset/.

You can also find a recording of the launch webinar on the website, along with links to the working paper for the dataset and a Shiny app https://shiny.cent.gla.ac.uk that can be used to explore and visualize the data.

Kind regards,
Anja
