Dear colleagues,

The Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science invites applications for two 3-year Postdoc positions to work with Carl Müller-Crepon on the research project "Border Change and Local Development in Europe and Beyond" (BORDERS).

The project involves cutting-edge research on the effects of border change on local demography, economic market exchange, state capacity, as well as ethno-political inclusion and favouritism. With new, spatially disaggregated data on historical local development over the past 2 centuries, the research team will study border changes across Europe since 1815 and globally since 1945. In times of renewed border contestation, BORDERS informs debates on the impacts of border change and contributes to the modernization and state formation literatures. Innovations in measurement and empirical methods will contribute to the social sciences more generally.
