Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the first series of Authoritarian Political Systems Group (APSG) – the first public workshop on autocracies. We intend to connect researchers working on different aspects of autocracies and with different regional concentrations. Our bi-weekly seminar will provide an opportunity to receive feedback on their work in progress. Please check our website to find out more about us and subscribe to our mailing list to attend the workshops at https://apsg.workhttps://apsg.work/.

The APSG online seminar will be held every other week on Tuesdays at 5:00 PM CET. The workshop will last one hour. After a brief presentation by the author(s), two discussants will provide comments and suggestions. We then open the floor for further questions and comments from the audience. If you would like to present your work, please sign up here: https://apsg.work/117-2/.

To see the Spring 2022 schedule please visit https://apsg.work/schedule/.

Our next topic is “Teachers as State-Builders: Public Education and Land Reform in Post-Revolutionary Mexico.” Our first presenter will be Manuel Cabal (Teaching Fellow, University of Chicago). Francisco Cantú (University of Houston), Jenny Guardado (Georgetown University), and Emily Sellars (Yale) have kindly agreed to serve as discussants for Manuel’s research.

We welcome everyone to join us on May 3, 5:00 PM CET, or at the future workshops!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at apsgworkshop@gmail.commailto:apsgworkshop@gmail.com!

Best regards,
