Dear all,
I would like to share a Call for Proposals for a mini-conference co-organized with Margaret Kenney entitled: "Green Industrial Policy and the Environment" at the upcoming APSA Annual Meeting 2025, taking place from September 11–14 in Vancouver.
This mini-conference centers on the growing global push for a sustainable economy, with industrial policy at the forefront of this transformation. Governments worldwide provide incentives to businesses and consumers to accelerate the development and adoption of green technologies—such as electric vehicles and solar panels. This raises important political economy questions, such as:

  • Are these policies genuinely driving economic sustainability?
  • How much are political incentives—like geopolitics and re-election pressures—influencing these initiatives?
  • Do people support such industrial policies, and how does public support vary across countries, identities, or policy instruments?
  • Can green industrial policies shape public attitudes toward environmental policies?
  • What is the role of business in the shaping green industrial policies?
  • How can international development organizations assist governments in this transition?

We invite scholars working on one or more of these questions—or whose work is broadly connected to these topics—to apply. We hope to receive a diverse set of submissions covering different countries, policies, and methods.
This mini-conference seeks to bring together scholars engaged in these pressing issues, fostering dialogue and collaboration on the political economy of industrial policy within political science. It’s a fantastic opportunity to share your research, exchange ideas, and build connections with peers tackling similar questions.
The submission deadline is December 19, 2024. Please submit a 200-word abstract using the following form: https://forms.gle/hPY7xx712FtNS3Ee8.
Additionally, we are delighted to announce that depending on funding availability, we may be able to offer travel funding to participants (with priority given to graduate students).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us:

We are looking forward to your submissions.
Best,
Stefano Jud
