in my Fritz Thyssen Foundation funded project "Legacies of democratic
transition. Explaining the success of the populist radical right in
eastern Germany" (Legacies), I am seeking to fill a position as a
(Postdoctoral) Researcher (m/f/d) (100% FTE, salary group 13 TV-L)
for a period of 1 1/2 years.
I would be very grateful if you could refer suitable applicants to the
advertisement. The application deadline is 05.08.2024. I am looking for
a person with an interest in empirical-quantitative research in
comparative politics or political sociology. A PhD is desired, but not a
requirement for employment, so the position is in principle also
suitable as follow-up funding for an advanced PhD student.
Work duties:
- Contributing to theoretical conceptualization and empirical analysis
in all work packages of the project
- Data collection and cleaning, merging and analysis of existing data
sets on elections and socioeconomics in eastern Germany
- Participation in the supervision of student assistants
- Publication of research results and their presentation at national and
international meetings and conferences
- Participation in the reporting and administration of the project
Your profile:
- A university degree in the field of political or social sciences or in
a comparable discipline
- Completed or soon to be completed doctorate desirable
- A specialization in comparative politics and political sociology
- Research interests in one or more of the following areas: Political
Behavior and Attitudes, Populist Radical Right Parties, Democratic
Transition, Regional Inequalities, Causal Inference, Survey Research.
- Solid knowledge of quantitative methods and a statistical software
(preferably R, alternatively Stata, SPSS, or others)
- Experience with the publication of articles in professional journals
is an advantage
- Very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of German
- A self-reliant way of working and willingness to take responsibility
within a team
