The Chair of Empirical Political Research and Policy Analysis (Prof. Dr. Paul W. Assistant Professorships (m/f/d)

The positions will be filled with Assistant Professorships (100%, A13: "BeamtIn auf Zeit", max. 4-4,5 years).

Job Description

  • The independent implementation of a postdoctoral research project in a thematic area relevant to research conducted at the chair (conflict studies, electoral research, survey research etc.)

  • Publication of research results and application for third-party funding (individually and in teams)

  • Teaching 5 SWS (~2-3 courses) per semester in the area of quantitative methods.

Job Requirements

  • An excellent dissertation related to quantitative political science methods (Methods & IR or Comparative Politics), completed or close to completion.
  • Skills to teach multivariate methods in R, special methods skills in one or more specific areas (e.g. NLP, Machine Learning, Causal Designs, etc.)
  • Research interests related to research interests of the chair (conflict studies, electoral research, survey research etc. https://www.en.gsi.uni-muenchen.de/chairs/analysis/index.html)
  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals or strong indications of the potential to place publications competitively.
  • Fluency in English. Good German skills are desirable.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in teams.

Our Offer

  • Payment is based on ‚Entgeltgruppe A13‘,  “BeamtIn auf Zeit”.
  • The posts ought to be filled by 1st October 2025 and 1st April 2026 and are restricted to a duration of three years (probation 6 months). The position can be extended for 1-2 more years.
  • The Geschwister-Scholl-Institute of Political Science (GSI) is one of the most renowned political science institutes across Europe.
  • Your workplace will be centrally located in Munich and can be easily reached by public transport.
