Dear colleagues,

I am looking for two PhD candidates at the Leibniz University Hannover
for the project “Countering Polarization: The Borda count as basis for
proportional representation
”, which is funded by the German Research
Foundation (DFG).

The project explores variants of a ranked PR voting system, asking
whether it has the potential to encourage moderation, reduce incentives
for divisive campaigning, and still ensure meaningful substantive
representation. It encompasses formal modelling of party competition,
survey and lab experiments, as well as an exit poll at a German state
election.

I am looking for one early stage or advanced PhD candidate to conduct
survey and lab experiments:

Researcher in the DFG-project: “Countering polarization: The Borda count
as a basis for proportional representation” – Leibniz University
Hannover

poll and follow up online survey at the 2027 Lower Saxony state election:

date 1^st  March 2026 or later. If you have any further questions about
the positions, please contact me: a.kurella@ipw.uni-hannover.de
