POSITION SUMMARY

Thapar School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (TSLAS) is building itself as a
leading research and teaching center for the liberal arts and sciences in
India. We are looking to recruit young faculty members committed to quality
research and teaching in the subject area of Political Science;
particularly in the fields of Public Policy, Comparative Politics, Gender
Studies and Indian Government and Politics. The level of teaching is
undergraduate, with Political Science being offered both as a major as well
as a minor option. TSLAS follows equal opportunity and fair practices.

This position is a good fit for Political Science candidates who hold or
are near completion of their Ph.D. and have good publications.

SALARY

Salary is competitive with allowances for professional development etc. Tax
would be deducted as per Indian law.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Teach up to two courses each semester. The teaching may be reduced in case
there is a funded research project at hand.

Provide guidance to students regarding internships and research in the
field.

Be a part of the research community of TSLAS and share the research ideas
fortnightly or as planned.

Support the administration of TSLAS through exam invigilation and
evaluation etc.

Perform other duties as assigned.

CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Completed Ph.D. degree is preferred, although candidates who are near
completion may also apply.

Some experience in teaching is preferred, however, not compulsory.
