JOB DESCRIPTION
The Department of Political Science at Radboud University is looking for a broadly oriented and versatile university lecturer/assistant professor in International Relations. Specific expertise in the fields of International Political Economy and/or International Environmental Politics, and more particularly Climate Change, is preferable. Education and research in international relations at the Political Science Department reflect the diversity of International Relations as a subdiscipline of Political Science.

At the same time, it is characterised by theory-driven research and the importance of transferring diversity and theory-driven research to students of political science. Education in International Relations is embedded in the Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Political Science, both of which are praised for their coherence and quality. Our research in International Relations is part of the broader research programme of the Department of Political Science (entitled 'Legitimacy and Institutional Change') that focuses on the two subthemes of 'Conflict at the Crossroads of the Global and the National' and 'Sustainable Democracy'. Researchers also participate in multidisciplinary research groups at faculty and interfaculty levels.

REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD in the field of International Relations.
  • Strong affinity with Political Science as a discipline, as well as with multidisciplinarity.
  • Teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative social science research methods.
  • Ability to publish in leading international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Research interests that fit well within the political science research programme.
  • A clear medium-term view on your own expertise and niche within IR, including external fundraising.
  • A team player mentality and a willingness to contribute to the organisation of education and research within the Political Science Department.
  • You should hold a university teaching qualification (BKO) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of the Dutch language is recommended. You will be expected to be able to teach in Dutch after two years.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Fixed-term contract: 1.5 years, with a possibility for the contract to be extended.
