Dear all,

I have the pleasure today to share with you a call for papers for a special issue in the journal Politics in the Low Countries, a journal with particular focus on Belgian, Dutch and Luxembourgian politics.

Under the title “Women and Politics”, our special issue will focus on the various ways in which women participate in politics (intended in a broad sense), including: active and passive electorates, turnout, social movements, leadership, and symbolic representation.

We are particularly interested in papers that explore the dynamics of women’s political participation and role in politics in one (or more) of the Low Countries, as well as those that employ a comparative perspective by comparing the Low Countries to other countries. The Politics of the Low Countries seeks to publish papers that are theoretically grounded and empirically rigorous. Submissions must include original, previously unpublished research and should be based on data from the Low Countries.

We welcome papers from all scholarly disciplines, including political science, sociology, and history. Submitted papers should be maximum 8,000 words in length and must be prepared according to the journal’s guidelines (available at https://www.editorialmanager.com/plc/https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.editorialmanager.com/plc/__;!!HJOPV4FYYWzcc1jazlU!-3SkZEjMST1ktBxBH2724UP6QRwX9TicNnlxTA3Tlq5Ffr9oa3yuSCCVbM4jD5il6-QQ4RBppfJPBu_GIXeJy13FV8M$ ). The deadline for submissions will be 1st June 2023.

Abstracts should be submitted via email to Rebecca Gebauer, PLC’s editorial assistant, at politicslc@boomdenhaag.nlmailto:politicslc@boomdenhaag.nl by 31st March 2023. Please put “PLC Women and Politics” in the subject line.

I would greatly appreciate if you could share this call in your networks and think of colleagues who could be encouraged to contribute to the special issue.
