„Recognition and Acknowledgement of Injustice to Strengthen Equality” (RAISE
https://www.migracje.uw.edu.pl/projects/11688/) is an international
project funded by the European Union from the Horizon Europe programme
(HORIZON Research and Innovation Actions,
“HORIZON-CL2-2022-TRANSFORMATIONS-01-08: Strengthening racial, ethnic and
religious equality”). RAISE is run by a consortium of 9 institutions,
including, apart from the University of Warsaw: Utrecht University
(leader), KU Leuven, Central European University, Izmir University of
Economics, University of Konstanz, Open Republic, Association for
Monitoring Equal Rights and Uccu Roma Informal Educational Foundation. The
project studies the awareness of boundary-making processes in reproducing
structural racism and xenophobia and seeks to provide empirical evidence of
what actions will support equality. It takes an interdisciplinary approach
(from theologians, big data scientists, social psychologists, geographers,
political scientists, economists and sociologists) and aims to create
research in collaboration with NGOs that address racism and xenophobia.
The researcher will be involved in WP1 “Practices and narratives of
boundary-making in everyday life institutional settings” and WP3
“Intersecting identities in inequalities”. WP1 will involve in-depth
qualitative ethnographic research in four countries (Belgium, Hungary,
Poland and Netherlands) around the topic of parenting encounters in
(a) care-centres
for new-born babies (one centre in a rural and one in an urban context) and
(b) primary schools (again one school in a rural and one in an urban
context). The postdoc will be responsible for the Polish part of the
fieldwork. In WP3 focus groups will be organized with people identifying as
ethnic, racial and religious minorities in these four countries to study
the role of intersecting identities on labour market outcomes. The postdoc
will work in close collaboration with the KU Leuven, Utrecht University and
CEU teams and with Dr Zuzanna Brunarska, PI of the project on the part of
the CMR.
