We are looking to hire a pre-doc with expertise in collecting and managing of big data. The position is part of an ESRC-funded project on the politics of collective memory based at UCL’s Department of Political Science and School of Public Policy. The fixed term post (11.5 months) will start in mid-September 2024 (or later). The deadline for applications is July 22nd, 2024.
I would be grateful if you could advertise the position among your students or anyone else you believe might be interested.
Key information:
- Starting date: Mid-September 2024 or a bit later
- Duration: Fixed term 11.5 months
- Main responsibilities: collection, organisation, pre-processing, and storing of large volumes of Wikipedia data, and other related tasks.
- Main requirements: Master’s Degree in Computational Social Science, Data Science, Computer Science or related subjects (e.g., political science or economics with a data science focus), and excellent knowledge of relevant programming languages (most importantly R and python), data scraping, databases, data management, big data analysis, natural language processing.
